The ASCO HV298568012 is a 1" 2-way normally closed gas shutoff valve built for high-capacity fuel gas service in commercial and industrial burner systems where power draw is a constraint. The peak and hold design pulls 23.6 peak watts for 0.2–0.5 seconds to open, then holds at 0.85 watts via an external PWM controller running a 19% duty cycle (500–2000 Hz). At 13 Cv and 701,000 Btu/hr, it delivers full 1" line capacity on a hold-power budget that conventional continuous-duty solenoids can't match — the difference that makes battery-backed, solar, and remote installations practical.

The 304 stainless steel body is paired with a 305 stainless core tube, 430F stainless core and plugnut, Inconel springs, and a PTFE rider ring. The 1" construction uses low-temperature FKM seals and disc with a low-temperature HNBR diaphragm. Ambient rating is -40°F to 125°F (-40°C to 52°C); fluid temperature range is 14°F to 125°F (-10°C to 52°C). Zero minimum operating pressure differential, 50 psi MOPD, 100 psi safe working pressure.

Mounting: this valve must be installed with the solenoid vertical and upright (Const. Ref. 3). It is not position-tolerant.

Approvals: CSA Certified for hazardous locations (File 013976), Automatic Gas Valves Z21.21 and CSA 6.5 C/I Safety Shutoff (File 112872), and CSA C22.2 No. 139 "Electrically Operated Valves." Specifications

Important: External PWM controller required — this valve will not operate correctly on straight DC. Supervisory and leakage current above 0.010 amp will cause improper operation. Fuel gas dewpoint must be at least 18°F (10°C) below the minimum temperature any point in the system will see, to prevent condensed water vapor from freezing in the valve.
